MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker women's basketball returned to Gillis Gymnasium on Saturday with a contest against (RV) Stillman (Ala.) to continue conference play.
The Lady Barons (9-3, 2-2 SSAC) slipped past the Tigers (7-2, 0-2 SSAC) in a tough, 62-55 win to earn the second conference win of the season.
"We beat a really good team today," Head Coach Steve Edwards said. "We matched their intensity and were really good defensively, so much that we struggled a little on the offensive side."
"I told our group that we will have to win games this way throughout the season," Edwards mentioned. "We were in a battle today and it was good to see us finish the game well against a tough team."

- Stillman began the opening quarter on a 7-0 run over a few minutes of play, keeping the Lady Barons from converting any offensive trips down the floor.
- Brewton-Parker eventually found the first bucket of the afternoon with a three-pointer from Cisley Copper at the 5:37 mark.
- Copper's three was the first score of a 7-0 run for BPC which leveled the game at seven points apiece as Sy-Marieona Williams knocked down a three with 3:48 on the clock.
- The Tigers closed out the quarter on a 6-1 run to lead 13-8.

- It was all Williams to start the second quarter, relinquishing BPC's deficit and equalizing the score 15-15 with 7:29 remaining in the half.
- A jumper from Keyanna Tolbert at the 5:58 mark gave the Lady Barons a one-point lead before Stillman answered with five points to lead 21-17 with five minutes left.
- Brewton-Parker finished out the quarter, outscoring Stillman 9-4 to lead 26-25 at the break.

- After trading shots to open the third quarter, Stillman went on a 9-0 run over about three minutes of play to lead with an eight-point advantage.
- The Lady Barons responded with a 13-2 run to take over control of the score with a 41-38 lead, leaving 2:19 on the clock.
- Buckets from Angel McRae and Copper boosted the edge to six points with 1:49 remaining before the Tigers closed out with a jumper to move the deficit down to just four points.

- Stillman opened the fourth quarter with a jumper to pull the deficit to just two points before Williams and Tolbert moved BPC's lead back to six.
- The Tigers answered with two more jumpers to pull back to just a one-possession game with seven minutes remaining and eventually pieced together scores to move the score to 52-51 with 4:09 to play.
- However, Brewton-Parker answered with a 7-0 run to pull out to a 59-51 lead with less than a minute remaining.
- BPC managed to hold off the Tigers, sealing the 62-55 win.

- A pair of Lady Barons notched double-figure points with Williams leading with 23 points followed by Madison Evans with 13.
- McRae dominated the glass with 17 points and scored nine points with Tolbert netting nine.
- McRae also led both teams with four steals.
