Women’s Wrestling Finish 4-1 at Baron Duals

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Women's Wrestling hosted a dual tournament on Saturday in Gillis Gymnasium in Mount Vernon. The Lady Barons (11-4) finished with a 4-1 record on the day.

Brewton-Parker put together two teams for the tournament BPC Blue (first team) and BPC Red (second team). The Lady Barons' first team gathered wins over NCAA DII opponents Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) and Limestone (S.C.) while also downing the No. 12-ranked team in the NAIA in Missouri Baptist and (RV) Montreat (N.C.).

BPC's first team notched 11 pins on the day and produced six tech falls while the second team gathered four pins. Unfortunately, the second team finished the day 0-4.

BPC Blue opened with a 36-11 loss to Mid-South opponent, No. 3 Life (Ga.). The Running Eagles picked up three-straight tech falls to start the dual. Migdalys Ramos recorded a fall (2:56) over Shani Tyson at 143 with Katelyn Lewis producing a pin (1:00) over Elizabeth Grabiec at 170.

Brewton-Parker followed up with a dominant 49-0 win over Lincoln Memorial. In a dual that saw eight matches end in a forfeit, BPC found wins from Jamesa Robinson and Jorie Richardson. Robinson recorded a fall (1:49) over Ashley Morris at 116 while Richardson put together a 10-0 tech fall over Stephanie Castro at 136.

In the third dual of the day, BPC defeated Mid-South opponent, Montreat 43-4. Gabriela Galvez opened with a pin (1:08) over Ivan Munoz at 101. At 109, Nicole Chandler picked up a 14-4 tech fall over Chloe Carver. After a forfeit win at 116 for Robinson, Alesandra Burgos slipped in a 3-2 decision against Trinity Howard in the 123 bout.

At 130, Madisyn Blackburn produced a fall (4:36) over Isabella Hoffman before Richardson followed with her own fall (1:16) over Michaiah Allen at 136. Brewton-Parker picked up back-to-back tech falls from Leidaly Rivera at 143 and India Page at 155. Before closing out with a pair of forfeit wins.

Against Limestone, the Lady Barons put together a 36-10 performance that saw three-straight forfeit wins to open the dual. Burgos (123) recorded a 2-0 decision over Caroline Schmitt followed by Blackburn's (130) pin on Alyssa Garza. BPC recorded two tech falls from Richardson (136) and Rivera (143).

At 155, Ramos was knocked off by Shelsy Renous by way of a fall before Lewis at 170 pinned Journey Land. Karla Roman rounded out the dual with a loss by a pin from Cecily Livingston.

In the final dual of the day, BPC knocked off No. 12-ranked Missouri Baptist in a 35-11 win. The dual began with a 7-0 decision in favor of Alyssa Quezaire over Galvez. BPC received two forfeit wins before Burgos secured a 2-1 decision over Riley White in the 123 bout.

Blackburn followed with a pin (5:33) over Taryn Johnson at 130. Richardson fell to Tiyahna Askew at 136 in a 7-3 decision with Rivera falling to a 12-2 tech fall against Jossette Partney at 143. The Lady Barons closed out the dual with three-straight wins as Page picked up a pin over Anastasia Hardin, Lewis recorded a forfeit win, and Roman pinned Derriona Johnson.

Brewton-Parker returns to action on Dec. 30 at the Midlands Championships.
