Box Score BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. -- The Brewton-Parker women's soccer program opened Southern States Athletic Conference play in convincing fashion on Thursday afternoon with a 6-1 road victory at Blue Mountain (Miss.).
Thursday's matchup was selected as the SSAC's Women's Soccer Game of the Week. The Lady Barons (5-7, 1-0 SSAC) produced an attack that continually pressured the Toppers (4-3, 0-1 SSAC) from first kick.
Head Coach Prince Borde briefly spoke about the match. "It is always good to open conference play with a win," Borde said. "We must continue to focus on improving daily if we want to be successful in such a tough conference."
How It Happened
- From the opening kick, Brewton-Parker gave Blue Mountain troubles in the offensive third. The Lady Barons opened with six shots before Kadisha Martina broke the 0-0 tie in the 19th minute. Martina bagged her eighth goal of the season with the assistance of Melia Cunningham.
- After tacking on several more shots, the Lady Barons found the net again in the 37th minute as Aurora Miglio netted her fourth goal of the season to give BPC the 2-0 lead. Lara Bernal and Martina recorded the assist on Miglio's effort.
- Just a few minutes later, Cunningham gathered BPC's third goal as Martina and Miglio gathered the assist.
- In the first half, Brewton-Parker notched 17 shots as Blue Mountain could only muster three.
- The Lady Barons would score two goals in quick succession in the 50th and 51st minutes to take a 5-0 lead. Martina gathered two goals unassisted to move to 10 goals on the season.
- Blue Mountain managed to finally find a goal from the penalty spot in the 66th minute to make the score 5-1 in favor of BPC.
- Martina would find one final score to give Brewton-Parker the 6-1 lead in the 77th minute with the help of Miglio.
- The Lady Barons tallied 20 shots in the second half while allowing only four from the Toppers.

- As a team, Brewton-Parker gathered a total of 37 shots with 19 on goal while holding Blue Mountain to just seven total shots and five on frame.
- Martina netted four goals on the afternoon as well as assisted on two. She totaled nine shots with six on goal. Martina now has 11 goals on the season which is ninth in all of NAIA.
- Both Miglio and Cunningham gathered goals. Miglio tallied nine shots overall with two on frame and two assists while Cunningham gathered two shots on goal as well as an assist.
- Kamryn Laster recorded six shots with two on frame.
- Kelsie Stapler and Sophia Nicholls split duties in goal, both earning 45 minutes of action and gathering two saves apiece.
