Volleyball Closes Out Regular Season with Weekend Doubleheader

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. -- The Brewton-Parker volleyball program closed out the regular season with two matches this weekend against Florida College and SSAC rival Middle Georgia.

The Lady Barons (2-22, 0-14 SSAC) challenged Florida College on Friday night before wrapping up the weekend with a match on Saturday Morning. Brewton Parker dropped both matches in straight sets to close out the regular season.

How It Happened

Match One vs. Florida College

  • Florida College opened the match with a quick 25-10 score to lead the match. The Falcons followed with another solid performance to win 25-11 in set two to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
  • In the third set, Brewton-Parker answered with a much better response, but the Falcons were too much to handle as Florida College secured the sweep with a 25-18 set three score.

Match One vs. Florida College

  • Florida College notched 31 kills while Brewton-Parker tallied 18. Keelie Jordan led the Lady Barons with six kills as well as 10 digs followed by Kinsley Jordan with four kills.
  • Amanda Jeffery competed for the Lady Barons on Friday night and led the team with eight assists.
  • Brewton-Parker led Florida College 39-36 in digs.

How It Happened

Match Two vs. Middle Georgia

  • On Saturday, the Lady Barons showed improvements as they gave Middle Georgia a solid challenge to close out SSAC play. The first set was tough for BPC as the Knights secured the early lead with a 25-14 set one score.
  • In set two, Brewton-Parker began producing better opportunities but ultimately fell short, dropping the set 25-19.
  • For the third set, it was the best scoreline the Lady Barons produced for the weekend as they fought hard in the 25-22 set three loss.

Match Two vs. Middle Georgia

  • The Lady Barons garnered 23 kills while Middle Georgia gathered 40.
  • Both Noelle Primus and Kinsley Jordan recorded seven kills apiece to lead the team.
  • Marina Dennis picked up 17 assists on the day while Janessa Ortega recorded 18 of the team's 59 digs. Jordan also gathered double-digit digs with 10.

Next Up

  • The Lady Barons return to play next week as they head to Montgomery, Ala. to compete in the SSAC Volleyball Championship. Brewton-Parker is set to compete in Poll Play which takes place on Nov. 11-12 at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl.
