MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Brewton-Parker volleyball program opened SSAC Tournament Pool Play on Thursday afternoon with a match against Mobile (Ala.) at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala.

The No. 8-seeded Lady Barons (2-23) battled against the No. 4-seeded Rams (22-5) but fell short in straight sets.

How It Happened

• The Lady Barons opened set one on a 5-1 run before the Rams managed to equalize the score at 6-6 before taking control of the set. Mobile would not look back for the remainder of the set as they won 25-13 to lead 1-0 in the match.
• For set two, both teams opened by trading scores back-and-forth. After a 3-3 tie, Mobile took the lead with Brewton-Parker hanging around to pull within one point. The Rams shifted the momentum and took the set 25-10.
• In set three, Mobile quickly controlled the scoreline without giving much room for the Lady Barons to mount a comeback effort. The Rams took the third set 25-12 to secure the match win in straight sets.

Inside The Statistics

• Mobile notched 41 kills while Brewton-Parker tallied 12.
• Teishawna Hughes recorded four kills to lead the Lady Barons with Kinsley Jordan and Jala Merriweather recording three each.
• Marina Dennis led with nine assists while Noelle Primus led with nine digs.
• As a team, the Lady Barons gathered 12 assists and 32 digs for the afternoon.
