Volleyball Drops Straight Sets to Faulkner on Senior Night

Box Score

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. -- The Brewton-Parker volleyball program fell to Faulkner (Ala.) in straight sets during senior night on Friday.

The Lady Barons (2-19, 0-12 SSAC) fell to the Eagles (11-14, 8-7 SSAC) in tough fashion but fought hard in the final set, challenging the visitors.

It was a bitter-sweet evening, as the program honored six senior student-athletes before the match. Amanda Jeffery, Ashley Arbogast, Janessa Ortega, Halie Harris, Lyric Broughton, and Jala Merriweather were the Lady Barons that were recognized for all their hard work and dedication to the growth of the volleyball program.

How It Happened

  • The Lady Barons struggled to gain any traction in set one as the Eagles took an early 8-0 lead before Brewton-Parker was able to score. Faulkner continued their dominant run, closing out the first set 25-7.
  • In set two, Faulkner opened with another early lead, but Brewton-Parker pulled within one score early in the set with an opportunity to stake a claim at the lead. Unfortunately, the Eagles were quick to respond and managed to secure a 25-15 set two victory to lead 2-0 in the match.
  • Early in set three, the Lady Barons controlled the scoreline until the Eagles reclaimed the lead after a 4-4 draw. Faulkner did not look back and remained in the driver's seat for the rest of the set, but the Barons did not leave without a fight, producing their best score of the night. The effort was not enough to thwart the Eagles as Faulkner won 25-18 for the 3-0 win.
