Box Score TALLADEGA, Ala. -- The Brewton-Parker volleyball program dropped their match against Talladega (Ala.) to open their weekend SSAC road trip.
The Lady Barons (2-12, 0-5 SSAC) managed to even the match in the second set but could not put together another winning set against the Tornadoes (6-9, 1-4 SSAC).
How It Happened
- In the opening set, Talladega began with a 5-0 run before Brewton-Parker was on the board. The Tornadoes continued to add to the deficit as they moved to an eight-point lead.
- The Lady Barons managed to pull within two points but were unable to catch up as the Tornadoes ultimately captured the set 25-21 to lead 1-0 in the match.
- In set two, the Brewton-Parker led the entirety of the set from 2-1 and beyond. The Lady Barons managed to gather a seven-point lead over the Tornadoes which provided enough cushion to ultimately win the set 25-19 to even the match at 1-1.
- Talladega opened set three leading until both sides were even at 12-12. The Tornadoes were able to break the tie and did not look back, closing the set with a 25-19 win to go 2-1 in the match.
- In set four, both teams traded scores early on before Brewton-Parker took control of the lead. The Lady Barons managed to lead until Talladega evened the set at 13-13. Once Talladega tied the set, the Tornadoes took control of the scoreline and finished with a 25-19 victory to win the match 3-1.
Inside The Statistics
- As a team, Brewton-Parker gathered a total of 33 kills while Talladega recorded 49.
- The Lady Barons finished with a .087 hitting percentage with the Tornadoes recording a .212 hitting percentage.
- Noelle Primus led Brewton-Parker with 12 kills followed by Kinsley Jordan with eight on the night.
- Marina Dennis recorded 27 assists on the evening as well as 10 digs.
- Two other BPC student-athletes recorded double-digit digs. Jordan led the team with 17 digs while Janessa Ortega tallied 14 digs.
- Both Jala Merriweather and Teishawna Hughes picked up two block assists apiece.
Other Notables
- With the loss, Brewton-Parker now holds a 3-1 lead in the overall series against Talladega which dates back to 2010.
